Since arriving at Base Camp 2, most of our efforts have been focused on preparing the Windsled for the crossing of the Greenland Ice Sheet.
After recovering the equipment stored during the 2025 campaign, we began the complete assembly of the system. The different modules were assembled and configured, including the steering module, cargo module, and living module. Once the structure was completed, we carried out technical checks and installed the equipment required for the expedition.
The following days were dedicated to final preparations: securing the solar panels and battery systems, organizing the logistics module, testing snowmobile loading procedures, calibrating the weather station, and becoming familiar with the various sails that will be used throughout the journey.
The plan was to take advantage of a forecasted period of westerly winds to begin our traverse toward East Greenland. However, weather conditions evolved differently than expected. For several days now, easterly winds have dominated across the ice sheet, making progress along our intended route inefficient.
This waiting period was also marked by a significant snowfall event. One morning, we woke up to nearly 60 cm of fresh snow around camp. Part of the day was spent clearing snow from the camp, recovering partially buried equipment, and checking supplies.
We also secured the depot that will remain in place until our return and continued carrying out final adjustments and maintenance on the Windsled.
At this stage, the entire system is operational. The scientific equipment is installed, the modules are loaded, and the sails are ready to be deployed.
We are now waiting for a suitable weather window to begin the traverse.
