🎯 NGWE2026 Preparation

As the departure for NGWE2026 approaches, preparation continues with a strong focus on safety and risk management in extreme environments.

In this context, Clotaire Berthelot, President of B-FROST, recently completed the “Polar Environment” training delivered by IFREMMONT, a leading reference in its field.

The training took place in Chamonix, both at the facilities of the École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme and in the field at the Plan de l’Aiguille, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world scenarios.

A benchmark training for extreme environments

Renowned for its high standards and the expertise of its instructors, this training represents a key milestone in preparing for an expedition such as NGWE2026. It reinforces essential fundamentals required for operating in polar regions: anticipation, autonomy, and sound decision-making in degraded conditions.

Operational skills for the field

Over the course of the program, several critical topics were covered:

  • management of cold-related injuries, including hypothermia and frostbite;

  • glacier rescue techniques, particularly crevasse response;

  • decision-making and operations in remote and isolated environments.

These are core competencies that will be directly applied during the Greenland traverse, where every decision carries immediate consequences.

Preparation without compromise

In polar environments, margins for error are minimal. The success of an expedition relies as much on preparation as on execution. This training fully aligns with that mindset: preparing thoroughly to operate safely in one of the most demanding environments on Earth.

🙏 Many thanks to IFREMMONT instructors and all participants for the quality of the exchanges and valuable feedback (REX).

🔜 Next step: departure for NGWE2026.
